Tungsten Super Shot Equivalent Chart for Lead and Steel

Due to the large difference in density between Tungsten Super Shot (TSS), Lead, and Steel pellets, it can be difficult choosing the appropriate equivalent. This TSS equivalent chart shows the corresponding pellet sizes for Lead and Steel shot that are most similar to Tungsten Super Shot.

The general rule of thumb when determining equivalent pellet sizes in relation to TSS for comparable metrics is to select a lead pellet that is 2-3 sizes smaller and a steel pellet that is 5-6 sizes smaller. While this will not guarantee an exact ballistic output, it is close enough to be within reasonable expectations.

Factors such as elevation, temperature, and wind speed can affect the way a pellet performs in the field. TSS offers the ability to improve pattern density by increasing pellet count with smaller diameter pellets that are ballistically superior to larger Lead and Steel shot.
