Accu-chokes are choke tubes made by Mossberg and installed on many of their shotguns.
You may have recently heard the term “Accu-choke” and you might be wondering what it means. Unless you own a Mossberg shotgun that uses these chokes, it’s not common to come across them.
An Accu-Choke is a type of choke that is used with Mossberg shotguns to control the spread of the shot. It is designed to provide more consistent and accurate shot patterns, which can be useful for hunting and target shooting. The Accu-Choke system was developed by the Mossberg and Sons company and is available in two different version, Accu-choke and Accu-mag.
What is an Accu-choke tube?
Mossberg manufactures shotguns for a wide range of hunting and shooting sports. Each shotgun requires a choke tube to effectively restrict the shot leaving the barrel. The Mossberg Accu-choke tube is one of two different types of chokes developed by Mossberg to be used will Mossberg shotguns.
Accu-chokes are available in both 12-gauge and 20-gauge models. They are non-ported choke tubes with threading near the base, designed for waterfowl and turkey hunting.

Accu-Choke vs Accu-Mag
Mossberg produces two different types of choke tubes for their shotguns, the accu-choke and the accu-mag choke. The accu-choke is produced for the earlier shotguns such as the Mossberg 500 and 535 that that take Invector style chokes, while the newer shotguns such as the Mossberg 835 and 935 require accu-mag chokes. Both versions are non-ported.
The accu-choke and accu-mag choke are not interchangeable.

- Accu-Choke fits Mossberg 12 Gauge 500, 535, 930, and Maverick 88 threaded barrels. It is also compatible with Smith & Wesson, Savage, & U.S. Repeating Arms (Win-choke) and Browning Invector.
- Accu-Mag fits Mossberg 835, 935, and SSi-One threaded barrels.
Bottom Line: Accu-Chokes Fit Mossberg Shotguns
Accu-chokes are made by Mossberg and included with most of their shotguns from the factory. A new Mossberg shotgun will come with an accu-choke in cylinder, modified, and full.
Accu-chokes shouldn’t be confused with Accu-Mag chokes. They are two different Mossberg choke styles and can’t be used interchangeably. Make sure before you order that the choke is indeed an accu-choke and not a mag version unless you have a 935 or similar.
