Pellet Count Chart (Per Ounce)

The chart above lists the approximate pellet count for Steel, Lead, Bismuth, Hevi-shot, Heavyweight, and Tungsten Super Shot pellet sizes ranging from #9 shot to 000 Buckshot. To calculate how many pellets are in a payload, pick a pellet size and multiply the payload weight by the 1-ounce pellet total. For example, 1-ounce of Steel #2’s has 121 pellets. A 1 ¼ oz load would have approximately 151 pellets (1.25 oz X 121 = 151 pellets).

Pellet counts can vary depending on manufacturing, metallurgy, and variations in size. This method is used to rapidly figure out pellet counts while brainstorming load effectiveness. If you need exact pellet counts, reach out to the manufacturer to find out true pellet diameter and weight so that a more accurate count can be made for the pellets in that specific lot.
