Choke tube markings are a series of lines, notches, letters, or numbers that help identify the size of a choke tube. The letters BER and BEN are usually written on the outside walls of the choke tube, and it can be confusing if you haven’t seen it before.
BER stands for BERETTA MOBIL. BEN stands for BENELLI MOBIL. It designates the choke tube system it’s compatible with and in this case BER and BEN fit all shotguns that accept Mobil chokes. This includes certain Benelli and Beretta shotguns.
Beretta and Benelli mobil chokes can be used in 20 gauge and 12 gauge shotguns and are available in many different diameters. If you see “BER” or “BEN” written on a choke tube, you can be sure it will be compatible with Beretta and Benelli shotguns designed to for Mobil chokes.

What does BER/BEN mean on a choke tube?
Choke tube letters designate what diameter or brand a choke tube is and BER/BEN is included in these designations. BER stands for Beretta Mobil and is the compatible choke system installed in many Beretta shotguns. BEN stands for Benelli Mobil. BER/BEN are interchangeable.
Some BER/BEN chokes can be labeled as MOBIL and this means Mobil choke as well. Mobil chokes will not fit shotguns designed for Optima or Optima Plus. Mobile will be listed as BER, BEN, or Mobil. BER/BEN chokes should not be confused with Optima choke tubes.
Beretta Benelli Mobil Chokes
Mobil choke tube systems are one of the most popular chokes for Beretta and Benelli shotguns. These choke tubes can be found in just about every diameter. Most choke manufacturers offer Mobil choke tubes for waterfowl and turkey hunting.
