↬ If you’ve seen “Invector” written on your choke tube, this guide will help you determine which choke system you have and its diameter.
The Standard Invector choke tube system was developed by Browning and is available for some models of 12, 10, 16, 20, and 28 gauge shotguns. Invector chokes are produced for a wide range of hunting and competitive options, including flush, extended, ported and non-ported versions.
Standard Invector chokes are compatible with certain Winchester, Browning, & Mossberg 500 style threads. In addition to Invector, Browning also makes Invector Plus and Invector DS style chokes that are not interchangeable with Invector choke tubes.

What is an Invector choke tube?
Invector is a choke system designed by Browning to fit most early model Browning shotguns. Browning later introduced Invector Plus and Invector DS for newer shotgun models. Invector, Invector Plus, and Invector DS choke tubes are not interchangeable with each other.
Invector Choke Tubes
Invector choke tubes are a standard for early model Browning shotguns, but they also fit certain Winchester and Mossberg shotguns. Invector threads are located at the bottom of the choke and are 1.5-inches long.
Standard Invector chokes fit the following shotguns:
Winchester Invector
- Fits Winchester 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500, & Ranger Shotguns
Browning Invector
- Fits certain early model 12, 10, 16, 20, and 28 gauge Browning shotguns, as well as .410 bore shotgun models, early A5s.
Mossberg 500 Invector
- Fits the Mossberg 500 shotgun
Please consult the choke interchange guide for choke compatibility.
SUMMARY
There are three types of Invector choke tubes for Browning shotguns: Standard Invector, Invector Plus, and Invector DS.
Invector vs Invector Plus
Standard Invector chokes are compatible with 12 gauge, 16 gauge, 28 gauge, and .410 bore Citori 725, Citori, Cynergy and Gold shotgun models. Invector chokes are shorter than similar diamater Invector Plus chokes.
Invector Plus chokes are compatible with 12 gauge and 20 gauge Maxus, Winchester SX2, SX3, SX4 & SXP, New Supreme & 101 models, Citori 12 & 20, Gold Hunter, Silver, and the White Lightning. The Invector Plus choke tube was first introduced in the 1989

Bottom Line
Invector choke tubes are compatible with Browning’s Invector choke system. They are available in ported, non-ported, flush, and extended designs. Invector chokes are interchangeable with certain Winchester and Mossberg shotguns.
Browning Invector Plus and Invector DS choke tubes are not compatible with the standard Invector choke system and can not be interchanged. These two choke types are found on most of the latest Browning shotguns.
